Dr. Gilbert will focus on the different ways of defining humanism as applied to health care through the past century; the components critical to its implementation; how we teach humanistic care to health professionals; and the obstacles faced for its implementation and teaching in 21st Century U.S. health care – especially as effected by the changing roles of women in society.
Mark D. Gilbert, MD, FRCP, is Director of Mind-Body Medicine Skills, Associate Director of Psychosocial Oncology at the Arizona Cancer Center and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, University of Arizona.
